FAQ- Frequently Asked Questions

What is the classroom environment and culture like?

HSH is reminiscent of the old one-room schoolhouse design. We have many grade levels together in the same space which encourages new types of relationships that enhance a child’s experience. When students bond with others older and younger than themselves new opportunities for growth flourish.

The physical environment was designed to allow free movement and provides a variety of “learning spots” as well as traditional desks. Students are encouraged to set up their area and make themselves at home.

Finally, the low-class size allows us the time to talk through any conflicts that arise which is essential to the education of our children. We have the time to listen, validate emotions, and resolve conflict calmly.

What are the hours?

Our current drop-off time is 9:00 AM, and pick-up is 3:00 PM. If your family schedule requires extended hours it’s possible that we can make changes.

How does lunch work?

Students must bring their own lunches, snacks, and beverages with them each day. We supply a refrigerator, small oven, and microwave for student use.

There are no certain times for students to eat. We encourage students to eat when they’re hungry and where ever they prefer. Sometimes we even order in! Of course, those days would be announced in advance.
